For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

paper and silk.....

I wanted to post today even though my next two pieces aren't quite finished, kind of like making up for lost days I suppose. They are progressing really well though and I have embroidered a piece of silk for my next one...thinking ahead, (I'm being so good...) Tomorrow the two ongoing pieces should be ready for unveiling and listing. Sunday I am off ''up north'', it's my mums birthday so there will be cake!!! There had better be cake!!
Then...next week...oh next week....I am so scared, nervous and worried. Next week, Sunday 14th to be precise..I AM MAKING A VIDEO!!!!!!! Now incase you haven't figured it out yet I am extremely camera shy...what should I wear? The debate with myself lasted all of ten seconds and I decided...A Burka....sorted....but in all seriousness I am just going to wear whatever, be myself, otherwise I won't be comfortable. I don't do make up, I don't do shoes, I don't do glam....so brace yourselves.....and I checked...I don't have time to fit a facelift in....
However....I also need to take work..and lots of it so my fingers will be extra busy for the next week...wish me luck!!

P.S. Just noticed I have a lot of visitors from Pinterest today....thanks for stopping by and especially thanks to the person who pinned me!

Don't worry about your presence on the video. You are among friends. Most of us don't do make-up, wear shoes, shop the runways or have facelifts either. That's because all of us are too busy creating 'stuff' rather than 'self'.

I hope you'll have a great time eating cake with your mom.

why are you making a video? Do you have a secondary career as a pop singer or are you going to be in the latest Take That video??

Wonderful! And yes, be true to yourself - for your own ease on camera and for so many of us who have FAR better things to do than doll (ha!!) ourselves up.

You are so funny! You will look marvelous for sure. And, your work is fabulous, too. :) I look forward to seeing that video if it's where we bloggy friends can see it.

Hugs,
Lois

I know how you feel about catching up lost time, but as I'm still not caught up...

What are you doing a video for if you're camera-shy? Seems like a great way to stress yourself!
