For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

chaos....of the organised kind.

Despite appearances I'm getting there...I think I know the finished pieces I am taking. There are quite a lot of those but too many I would think is better than too few. I have others that aren't yet out of their 'safe places', maybe a wrapping cloth and probably a couple of  artist sketch and embroidery books. Preparation for my demo is under way too. I have paper with hand perforated edges, I have hexagons and I have more fabric cut into hexagons ready to be tacked to paper templates.
The tiny piece of silk embroidery is being extended and that HAS to be finished tonight so I can damp stretch it before I add it to a piece of paperwork... It sounds more hectic than it actually is though. It is all coming together just fine.
In the meantime...kind of a public service announcement. My printer died last week and wouldn't you believe that at that very moment I had lots of people wanting books......so for those of you who are waiting...I collected my new printer this morning. I can't give a definite date at the moment with regard to setting it up and getting it working. Although Sunday is taking up a lot of my time I can assure you that your books are very important to me and I will be on it soon. I will mail you all when it's done......

My goodness, you look so busy! But everywhere is something lovely - the pinky gold fabric peeping through the cutwork is fab!
