For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

an abundance of white paper....

I am struggling to believe that Saturday afternoon is here already. Who stole my morning? I am way behind in replying to all my e-mails, I am way behind with my housework and I am way behind on being any kind of organised or where I had hoped to be in terms of my 'to do' list for today.....and to cap it all my internet has been playing up again. I am writing this with everything crossed that it hangs in until I am finished. So far though I have managed to list these two pieces..

I can tell you are all excited about my video.....maybe more than I am. I know you are all waiting for the great unveiling of ''me''. Well I don't think you will see much behind a Burka...but if you do get a glimpse...I can guarantee you will be underwhelmed....it will be available to view online but I don't know when yet...don't worry, I shall look first, check it out and you will be the LAST to know!!
Yesterday some kind person pinned me on pinterest...it was amazing, so many visitors. Please feel free to do it again!! I will pay...name your price!!
Tomorrow I am off 'up north' to eat cake....I don't know when I will be able to get back to anyone, please hang in there. I haven't forgotten anybody, you are all in my head, on my mind, on my conscience. Today I want to put together a piece of white crazy patching....I need to make work for next week and that will be the starting point. Monday you will have cloth.

Big hugs,

Show up in your burka that is fine by me. Just hearing your voice and an interview picking your brain will be enough to keep my interest.

Your pieces paper+ are just so beautiful!!!!

Hold my fingers crossed that your access to our world will keep its gateway open. What is it with all these problems, why?

Anyway, enjoy eating your cake and your visit ofcourse. I'll see you soon.

Love the pieces you have shown today Karen-and a small question--Do I have to wear a burka to watch the video? :-)

Beautiful as usual, OF COURSE. But I have just realised one reason why I love this paper work so much - the little holes look just like beads, with which I am overwhelmingly obsessed!
