For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

out of sorts...

I'm going to start today by saying sorry....I am not with it somehow and this post may not be up to much. I had a day off yesterday...a day of feeling slightly spaced out, kind of not knowing what to do and not really wanting to do anything. I finished this a couple of days ago but had no motivation to list or talk about it. I took out some silk to embroider, would you believe I really couldn't be bothered? I am putting it down to the tablets...that's the only update on the arm too...it is far to gross at the moment to exist in my waking brain.
Today I'm fed up of it, want my mojo back, want my excitement of stitch back. I have just drank a vitamin drink, an apparently wonderful vitamin feast. Let's hope....
I do have a lot to be happy about...and I'm not unhappy, just 'wilted'. I was mailed a preview of my new magazine article last night and it looks fantastic. It will be out on Monday and I will post the link. I have had an exciting enquiry about my work, have to keep it under my hat for a bit...in another universe I am excited, just not in the tablet world I inhabit at the moment.
So today I am determined to overcome the mood....I am going to progress creatively if it kills me....
I am ending with a thanks now, thanks so much to those of you who popped over to read my interview and especially thanks to those of you who left such amazing comments.....I didn't know you cared.

Hope you feel better soon Karen. Don't push yourself too hard. It may really all be down to the tablets, and maybe you just need some time to heal. Maybe sit out in the sun for a while with a magazine...? You'll soon be back in the swing. xx

Three rules of work: 1. Out of clutter, find simplicity. 2. From discord, find harmony. 3. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.

Love these pieces - tiny formal landscapes, so beautiful.
Hope the lethargy wears off soon, it's just not the Karen we know and love, and that today is a better day for you. x

Karen, I am sorry not to have noticed that you have been out of sorts. Been rather busy myself.

I do hope you can rest a little: I know you probably don't want to but an infection can really be a drain on your system. You need to give yourself a chance to heal.

Here endeth the lesson.

Now onto the creative stuff. Karen your work is so beautiful and special. Your shop is looking great.

Add me to the queue. Karen, take the time to get well. Be nice to yourself and rest. We'll wait for more luscious embroidery. What's important is your wellness. Hugs

I think we all have days like that. I just keep reminding myself, this too shall pass. Hang in there!

those tablets do crazy things to your body. they are, sometimes, a necessary evil. it will all pass and you will soon be up to your bright self. hang on. just relax. you're entitled to some time off.

If it's any consolation the embroidery stll looks gorgeous even if you're feeling lousy. Take it easy and allow the anti-biotics to do their job. Hope you're feeling better and brighter soon.

Sorry to hear you are down and hope your arm is much better soon. Being down for a day or so will give your brain a chance to regroup and you'll come back with so many new ideas and great enthusiasm. Been there. It's wonderful to get back. You will for sure. ;)

Glad to hear about wonderful things happening for you and your work. You do such great work.

Don't push yourself so hard ... take it easy. We'll still be here when you're feeling up to it.

You might have been feeling out-of-sorts, but the embroidery doesn't show it!

I would have to say that your out-of-sorts-ness is most likely linked to the horse pills. Think of it this way - the little critters are running races all through your system to make you better and all that internal turmoil would make anyone out of sorts. Take some time and don't push yourself.
