For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

muslin....

I have hit a bit of a hitch with my muslin piece....the best laid plans and all that. All is not lost however...the completed piece that I added to the cotton background..well it will be salvaged, that is happening now. The next section that I have measured and started to gather, I have plans for that too. In the meantime I am planning my next move...operation muslin 32 x 32 cm will be accomplished even if it kills me. It will just have to be approached from a different angle.

My plans involve pink too. A tiny pink patchwork flower created from one inch hexagons. A secret plan for pink which will all become clear...
which brings me to another pink...buttons....don't forget the give away here...

You are such a tease! Love the gathered muslin, and the pink patchwork flower sporting blooms of its own!

Very intriguing - look forward to watching it progress. Sorry I'm a bit behind the times, but a belated Happy Birthday to you - with work and social life I've not had much chance to write or read blogs!

I've never been a huge fan of pink, but in your hands it turns into something beautiful. Can't wait to see what come out of your nimble fingers (and fertile brain) next.
