For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

puffs....

Sorry about yesterday, going AWOL and all that...I can get you note from my mum if you insist. I had so much to do to get ready for London. The third hook and eye piece was finished and then I had to get the suitcase down, try and figure out a way to get all three pieces to the other end of the country unscathed and sort out some stuff for whilst I'm away. I was relieved to get everthing finished finally and last night just kind of collapsed, (not in a bad way, In a relieved? satisfied? accomplished? way) onto the sofa without much ambition in the embroidery department.
I know I thought, puffs! So I made a little batch of these with a cheery green gingham insert and also added a little bit to the fragment I showed you earlier in the week. I leave at 1 p.m. tomorrow and am so excited!! I love London, as you probably know and I also get to see my little girl...result!! I intend to browse, yes browse various shops, maybe buy some fabric and trims but mostly just have fun. I will be back on monday but might not re appear here until tuesday. Will you miss me??

Weird as it seems the first word that came to mind when I saw them 'edible' - they are so ridiculously cute and, well, edible looking!

Have a gorgeous time in London and ENJOY YOURSELF. Hugs Judy

Thank you for explaining what a toe wrap is! I couldn't figure out why you would want to wrap such a beautiful thing around a toe! Even with a new pedicure! Your spring green puffs are just the thing for a tiny white wicker basket - with a few wisps of grass peeking out. Have a nice time in London - I've been there twice and loved every minute, uh, except the coffee. Tea is much better.

these remind me of the lovely 'buttons' I purchased when I first met you. Always such exquisite stitching. Although I find London manic I love all that it offers. Hope you have a great time and lots of wonderful shopping. There is a great place in Kings Cross that's opened up recently (9 Caledonian Road to be precise) that's well worth a visit: www.drinkshopdo.com - you can buy, make and eat!

Take care,
