For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

flowers and favours....

Make a note of the date...mark it in your diaries....the sun is shining!!
I have even taken photos for tomorrow..ha!! How organised am I???? I made two more hexagon pieces for the books last night and had to share with you how good they all look together...in fact my brain is telling me that this kind of thing would make a very nice toe wrap...do I need three?? Probably not. Do I have time to make a zillion one inch hexagons? Probably not? Do I care that I don't have time? Probably not.
(just a note...the blue that you may be able to see on the white piece is tailors chalk, on the reverse. Not visible under normal light. I haven't taken to drawing on my stuff, not yet)
and as promised, wedding favours...These are a suprise for the bride and groom that's why I'm not showing the whole label. They don't read my blog but you never know....

Now a word about todays photos....are they o.k?? I quite like them but my photo editing programme decided to change it's settings overnight and has kind of taken on a mind of it's own. The things I would normally do to my pictures seem to just happen as if by magic but not necessarily in the way I would do them. The top two for example have a much greater colour saturation, nothing to do with me honest, it's magic I tell you, magic.

Beautiful! I love the hexagons, the addition of the knots makes them so delicate.

Let me first congratulate you on the fact that you have sunshine today. Here it is grey and foggy, a long way away from any sunshine.

The little hexagons look perfect. Can't think of any reason why you are not in need of a third toewrap, haha.

The favours look just so perfect. What a beautiful present for the happy couple.

Have fun today with your toewrap. I'll see you soon.

As usual lovely work and lovely photographs. How lucky you are to have sunshine, it's a grey, cold and cloudy day here, there was even a spell of icy rain earlier. Maybe we'll be blessed with sunshine tomorrow???

I was out in that sun, makes a very nice change.
The wedding favours are lovely. I've got wedding invitations to make, seemed a good idea at the time. Not so sure now

What a difference your embroidery makes to the hexagons! They are stunning, as are the wedding favours. Lucky recipients, there will be lots of oohs and aahs at the wedding!

Hexagons and hearts and sunshine too? A perfect day! We've had sunshine here today too, but I've spent it in the basement studio where I have no windows.
