For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

blame the weather....

Sorry!! honestly I really am...it's the rain, the wind, the cloud. It is far too gloomy to unveil my toe wrap. The weatherman tells me tomorrow may?? be better, let's hope so. It is ready, it is finished, I had the pleasure of it warming my toes this very morning, wonderful!!! I love it so much. To keep you going I will show you progress on toe wrap two instead...there are three pieces of this tacked together, some embellished areas, some as yet untouched. The top picture shows the ''newest'' embroidery done last night until the early hours. That's my lovely bird fabric cut up and appliqued.
This isn't necessarily how it will look, where the pieces will be placed when it's finished. There are a lot of sections yet to be made. This picture just illustrates how they all go together at the moment. and I'm still not sure about that red....
there's a new page at the top......do you like?

Yay it's finished! Can't wait to see it. No. 2 is looking stunning.
It is very bleak today, I need to have the lights on.

The lollipops are way too cute. You are so talented and like Deanna I wished I lived closer. Than I would pop by for a cupper so often until you became totally tired of me.

Yes, I completed the Can Can scarf & worn it in Brussels. A member of my EG had bought a similar wool at the Knit & Stitch show last year and has knitted it into scarf. The wool was variegated in colour and more silky. I will be looking out for some different wool at the K&S show next year.

The weather has been miserable for photography here too. I like what you're doing here - although I sometimes wonder how you can bring yourself to cut up some of those lovely fabrics!

It's beautiful, of course! It's funny how a print can look quite different, but still lovely, when cut into small pieces and used like this.

Thanks for the kind words re job hunting. I don't want to go back to work, but I have committed to us buying a more expensive house that can, if necessary, be adapted to allow our son (who has Aspergers Syndrome and a variety of other issues) live at home with us into adulthood in an independent flatlet thing - and I need to work now to help pay the bigger mortgage. I would rather be poor and happy too!!
