So the second front is finished, as is the first. Well actually the first has been added to more cloth, had the edges titivated and is awaiting a damp stretching. The second one is damp stretched and awaiting backing. In these pics you can see the first panel pinned to the larger piece of silk. That was yesterday morning. Last night it was embellished with more french knots to enhance the edges and will be damp stretched later today, pile of ironing allowing that is...
these are both going to fasten on the reverse with hooks and eyes, that job is still to do. Thing is, my thumb is very sore from stitching through or around metal so I am going to leave that for a couple of days. I have made a decision though and thanks for your input last time. I will make these and put them away. Hopefully when it comes to April and I get them out again I will still love them. I shall request that we all hold hands and chant in the minutes before I look at them again, so pay attention!!
You probably won't see them again until they are finished which may be a week or so by the time I have the backs all hooked and eyed up and the construction has happened. I also need to order some cushion pads so have a good look because they are now going into semi hibernation.
I feel kind of liberated this morning, the world is my oyster, I can do anything I like, I can create on a whim. I see fabulous design sheets, amazing artwork, (in your dreams Karen!!!) Brace yourselves, next time there may be a load of old tat on here....

Ouch on sore thumbs! I've been tatting so much and the humidity is so low from the furnace running that my thumb and 2nd finger are cracked at the tips again so they are bandaged up to help them heal faster so I can abuse them more!

I lost the top layer of skin sewing on hooks for my daughter's wedding dress and that was only a few, how you managed to survive that many I have no idea. I had to resort to the dreaded thimble to finish, I hate using them. They do look lovely though.
It's gorgeous, Karen! I can't imagine not loving it come April. The texture you create with your embroidery blows me away.

That is a LOT of French knots! I used to be French knot phobic until I realised how much fun they could be, but that is possibly too many for me to contemplate doing. Look after the sore thumb :( x x x
I don't know how you do it. My fingers, hands, wrists, would have been screaming in agony long before this! I shall chant with you when the time comes. On another note, I'm still waiting for Mr. Bill to take the boxes of Christmas stuff back down to the storage in the garage and bringing up the tote that my surprise to you is in. Since I started school this week and am dragging myself around (Boy can you get out of shape fast at my age...) it'll probably be this weekend before I can really get up the steam to nag him.
