For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

back and forth..

I need a little clarity I think, a list perhaps or at least a plan. There are so many things ''in progress'' and although I don't feel pressured, confused, stressed or in any way floundering for some reason I know it can't last. So in order to be prepared I will make a list. Ha, lists. I have lots of them already but I lose them. This one will have to be stuck somewhere prominent. The best place would probably be on the kettle (I constantly make coffee)  but maybe not the safest.. This weekend I have achieved what I think is a lot. I have taken lots of photos, created a lot of embellished cloth, finished the text on my wedding piece, put together two white pieces for my throw and embroidered and damp stretched one of them. I have also done housework, cooked meals and washed dishes....all in all a productive use of my time.

There are big plans for the week ahead too. First thing I need to do is damp stretch the embroidered text. That way it will be ready for tomorrow and I can show you. I now have four pieces that need to be added to my throw and then I can show you that too. I also have an idea in mind for something that excites me but I don't want to say too much yet incase I can't do it, but that is on the agenda for this afternoon. and then....I am wondering...should I put together an FAQ page for here.? Would you like an FAQ page on here? can you tell that I'm excited because I can now create a stand alone page? and....I am getting ideas for other pages....watch this space...

Yes, you sound very excited and energized. Your whites are superb again. I was just thinking if you ever organize a blogcamp I would love to participate. If there is already a list, please put me on!!!!

You could have a little white embroidered notebook, A Book of Lists, hanging from a belt, like a chatelaine!
I'm full of bright ideas for other people.
Ps My sister recommended that I read your blog - I told her I already did!
She's Patchwork Linda, but she's not a blogger. Yet.

I so love eyelets and you've got them right there again! How do you manage to have so many whites the same color of white? Ha! I wonder if I am not the source of a lot of those questions?

I need to write lists too. I have some unfinished projects that I need to finish...if I can find them that is. I really want to get my sewing machine out, but I've just moved into a share house and I have to go and buy a desk and chair first. I love reading your blog and seeing what you are up to. Your embroidery is beautiful.

Um, isn't a journal for keeping things like lists in? Why not put your list in your journal/sketchbook. Then, long as you know where your sketchbook is at, you know where the list is. :)

I agree with the desire to have a blogcamp. :)

Ah, Karen! You are so serene and probably fragrant, it shines through! Gorgeous work. Just gorgeous. And yes, FAQs on a stand-alone page would be wonderful. V intrigued by your top secret idea. Hope it goes well.
