For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

white silk and love hearts...

It really is such a pleasure making these little cushions. I have been cutting, tacking, adding labels, stuffing and hand sewing edges all weekend. Not as many as I would have hoped I have actually felt lousy since friday. Aching all over and really congested but this can in no way be described as a taxing or strenuous pastime, so delicate and pretty. Today I feel much better so perhaps the cure for all ills is surrounding yourself with embroidered silk!!

I think I have 20 finished completely, the remainder are backed and just need stuffing and the edges hand sewn to complete them. Don't the labels look good? They were custom made for me by the extremely talented Anna, check out her blog. Mind you, if you go there you will probably never come back here it is so beautiful!!
I am going to leave these for a day or so now, my throw is calling me. It is ready for another section so I need to give some thought to that and then gather my cloth together.
In other news......there isn't any. I wish I had something exciting to tell you but I fear not! As you know I don't get out much but I have been to the shed several times....

I'm going to get married again just so I can have beautiful sentimental memories! There was nothing like this in my other weddings. Only 2. Haven't been brave enough to try it again these 30+ years later but you surely tempt me with these precious favors!

There is no possible way I am going to share these pictures with either of my sons and their fiances - because I would be so afraid they'd want something similar for their weddings next year!! Beautiful pieces of art Karen - Jamie and Rachael are indeed lucky.

I've wandered back again to tell everyone that the cotton name tape shop is closed.
I'm disappointed.
