For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

''the use of traditional often time consuming process alludes to the devotion of a mother''. c K. A. Ruane 2007

a departure...

I give you books, only two but books non the less. I actually have five, the others are almost finished. These are so different from my last books which were all about cloth, thread, colour and it seems fear. These are more subdued, more welcoming of mark making, itching to be doodled on. I have done some doodling on them already as you can see.

I'm not going to say much more about them today because then I won't have anything to say tomorrow. As for me not geting out enough, this morning I went to the shed. A clue to my plans for the rest of the day? click this....

Does the shed 'count'? Absolument!! I consider merely stepping out onto the front porch for the mail 'getting out' when I'm creating and cocooning indoors!!
Have fun!!XXO-

Your doodles practically invite the recipient to add more embroidery themselves, as well as doodles. Very nice. I wondered how they would look at the end.
