For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

ooh, lovely. I'm sure I have a pillowcase tucked away somewhere with a similar edging.

Karen

It would be fascinating one day to see not just the process, but to have some description of how you think about what you are going to so and where. In effect you are creating abstracts, and that is something I really struggle with!

I like the way you have matching white pins :-)

This reminds me, I posted a small packet of "stuff" to you yesterday. Some of it is a little yellow with age but should whiten up with a light bleach and a lay in the sun.

Hope you can use some of it and what you can't - pass on to someone who can. Textiles are like books - the more people who enjoy them, the better!

hugs, leilani
