For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

fresh

fresh fabric, fresh pouches and a fresh start. I am leaving all that nonsense behind me, I have removed the link from this blog to that blog, I am slowly watermarking every single image I have ever placed on the internet and as they say, ''today is the first day of the rest of your life''. So here are my new pouches. What do you think? I love them, they are so cheery and summery . There are only three, yes that magic number again! and they are not listed yet because I am waiting for someone to tell me which one they want, they have first dibs. I shall be listing two of them tomorrow sometime. Now I enjoy working with all this colour it is so refreshing but I guess you can't escape your roots. My hankering for white returns at regular intervals so last night white fabric was strewn around my lounge whilst I mixed and matched a few pieces for more work. I get such a sense of 'belonging' when I am working with white. Is that wierd? Or do you understand? Hard to explain but a reality non the less. Next time I hope to show you that but in the meantime I am really struggling to find white fabrics to work with. I have googled and googled but no success. I am quite picky and prefer cotton, linen or silk. I'm not really a lover of synthetic fabric so maybe that's my problem. I do know where I can buy it in the flesh so to speak but it's a long drive so I'm resisting although I think I may have no option soon. I will keep you posted on that one.
and I wanted to ask.....do you block people on flickr who add you as a contact but have no images of their own on there?? I don't add them as contacts but wondered should I block them too.
**** the person with first pick has picked the one with the funky puffs!! The other two are now listed.****

Beautiful pouchies....always your special contemporary/traditional touches...how do you do it?
I know what you mean about your love of *white*....there are some things you just keep going back to and you feel so comfortable, so at home, working with them.

I'm so glad to hear that you are moving on. I was worried that you might have given up and that would have been terrible.
Again, you have taken my breath away! I love the colours, really bright and cheerful.
Take care x

Yes, the summer does continue over at your place and that is a good feeling especially since the symbols are so gorgeous.

So hard to choose...Karen!
I think now everything is done - if anything is well please let me know.

About your question:
perhaps I still have people on flickr who add me as contact and have no images to share but since long time I block them. People who add my photos as favourites and have no photos to share and say nothing about them are blocked by me as well.
On my profile I publicize for that matter

They are really delightful, Karen - well done.
I was wondering when you would be going back to white!

Hi Karen,
I too block those on flickr who don't share images.
I always wonder who looks at your photo's when it says from unknown.
lovely work.xx

I'm no help as far as the flickr question because I've stayed far away from it. Facebook and twitter are not in my vocabulary either. I was on facebook for all of a few days and it was too much for me - never again!
Your wee pouches are adorable!

So now we get to see the finished product of all those lovely sneak peeks.
Fresh. I like that. A very good frame of mind. White is your comfort zone, non?
