For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

anybody want a cold?

I really am losing patience with this cold now. It's yours if you want it, free to a good home! It's one of those colds that seems to make your head weigh a tonne (that's 1000kgs, I just asked google) headache not too bad anymore but so much congestion I can hardly breathe and let's be honest, I need to breathe! Anyway, yesterday was a quiet take it easy day and I put these purses together. They are now in the shop so pop over and take a look, or not, whatever you want to do! (pink one now sold!! thankyou Erica!)

Last time I said I would show you the latest pieces I had made for my little books, well I'm sorry but I can't. I really didn't have it in me to sort them out yesterday, not capable of standing and cutting and mounting etc. I can only show you these two because I had them ready days ago but hopefully they give you a flavour of what's to come in a couple of days. The facebookers among you will have seen them already, sneak preview so to speak.

This morning I didn't crawl out of bed until after 10....lazy I know. So I haven't really done much yet and I still don't have a government.
Is that like when your parents go away and you can do what you want?? Now there's an idea and an opportunity!
I remain fascinated by what is happening now and what may happen in the days and months ahead, will they teach my grandchildren about this piece of history in years to come? ( just to clarify, I don't yet have any grandchildren, am absolutely nowhere near old enough!) my money is on another election soon and another all night sewing marathon.
Today is also the final day of the football season, so much excitement in this house. I have games to watch, (will Rovers win?) Probably not now I've mentioned them on here, in the past it has proved to be the kiss of death and even though they technically have nothing to play for I am still excited...come on you blues! I should also stand and cut paper, don't know if I will but I should. One thing I do know is that I need to up my game a little, enough laying around, tissues in hand, moaning and groaning. There are books to make, embroidery to plan, piles of fabric to sort out........can I go back to bed please?

Here in the US it's Mother's day so I say you can do anything you want. Is Mother's Day celebrated in the UK? I have no children but I celebrate every day so I'm not missing out.

Sorry to hear you've been feeling ill for a while. To be honest though, from what you say you've been doing whilst ill and that you consider yourself lazy for having a lay in when you're clearly unwell and it's Sunday anyway, I would say that your cold is persisting because you simply haven't given yourself any chance to recover! You're firing on all engines when you obviously need to take a good, proper rest! A cold is an illness and you need to take it genuinely easy for a few days - and that *doesn't* mean catching up with anything other than a bit of light reading!

Hope you get some R&R soon.=)

Our politics here in the States are a polarized bloody mess. Don't see it getting much better any time soon.

Take care of the cold. If you fight it too much it'll just drag on longer. (Ask me how I know.)

The pieces are lovely and the little books are fascinating. Here's wishing you a better week!

Totally agree with Elizabeth. My advice, for what it's worth, is to completely REST UNTIL YOU ARE BETTER. That means NO standing and cutting! Feel better soon :-) x

I'll add my voice to the "For Goodness' Sake, REST" brigade! It's astonishing what you have managed to do while feeling rotten, but please rest and get well soon!

Thank you very much for comment on my blog! I haven´t had time to upload for a long time now, and not to read and comment on other blogs either. My class i photography had taken so much time, but it is very fun :-)

Hi Karen, Hope you're feeling much better by now. These are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! What you can do with those French knots!

Saturday was also a stressful day for me. Let me remind you I come from Leeds - from the hill just behind Elland Road, no less. Anyway, thankfully we are now promoted back to the championship and I hope the only way is up from here on in.

I have wondered the very same about grandchildren and history, and I think the answer is yes. Funny that the party that came third now has the power to choose our government! Looks like the electoral system is working in the LibDem's favour after all.

I have now returned to 21st century communications. New computer. Hope all is well, especially you!

Janice.
