For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

little coloured thingy's...

I know it looks like I am working hard but it really doesn't feel like it at all. These are all tiny pieces for my new books which, if I get my finger out and cut some paper up, will be ready for listing on thursday. There is still a bit to do, I need 2 more embroideries and I also need something for the front covers so they are still very much ongoing. What do you think of the window mounting? I do like it but then again........ Probably next time there will be less of it, somehow I feel it takes away from the work. You may think differently who knows. I know I'm a bit wierd, maybe it's that, general wierdness!

I do know that I am definitely turning pink. The colours that shout at me from my thread boxes are all pink, lots of variations of pink but pink all the same. I think some cold turkey may be called for so perhaps next time I will revert to white, just to remind myself that there is more than pink in Karens world. I shouldn't be suprised at the appearance of pink though. Thinking about it I once had a pink kettle, I loved it, adored it in fact. Sadly it died the day after the guarantee ran out. Why does that happen? Are all electrical appliances programmed to self destruct the day after the guarantee runs out? I think probably yes!
Today I received the beautiful blogger award again! This time from Rachel, a mean embroiderer herself I might add. Once again I would like it to be known that she means me, not the blog! Thanks Rachel!

Well first of all - electrical items. In the last few months we've replaced a tumble drier, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, fridge, food processor, casette deck, CD.... Need I say more? I think this house must have curse surges! And now to the little books. I love them all! Every single one of them. Regarding windows or not windows, I tend to agree with you. The windows are lovely but the ones with the embroidery placed on top seem to be more about the embroidery. And I'm assuming the windows are a little more work...? Anyway - all lovely work!

These look absolutely enchanting, Karen. I feel that rather than having only windows or only not windows, better to mix them up - some of your fragments may be happier with a crisp edge around them.
As for electrics - absolutely. Just before I logged on our kettle went kerput!
