For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Time's up

Well that's it I can do no more. I put these buttons and brooches together at the weekend and saved the pictures so I could post tonight. I have made more things but unfortunately haven't been able to get any images so I will have to rectify that by taking lots of photos of my stand. Tonight I have the mundane to do, price tags, packing up and finishing some puffs I damp stretched last night.

I am being positive, things can only get better, honestly, things had better get better. I am not going to cry or rant about the fact that last night I left the door to my freezer open and everything has defrosted. I am not going to beat myself up because today I found out that I had booked my lodgings for Sparkle for the 19th-22nd December instead of November and that because they are fully booked I nearly had nowhere to sleep. No I am not going to loose the serene fragrance I have been clinging on to for so long. Instead I am going to enjoy the experience, good and bad, learn from it, return home and chill for a while, visit lots of you and relax for a few days.
See you next week. x

Oh Karen. I've had that happen with bookings before. My sis in law booked it and we didn't find out until we arrived.
Just think, all the things have gone wrong now, it will all be plain sailing now. Go and have a great time, and enjoy yourself

i have been so "out there tired" i have put the ice cream in the microwave, or the milk... be careful when you get that way; careful with yourself.

Hi Karen,

Lovely to meet you at sparkle. I love the gorgeous hand-crafted brooch I bought (my mum and I came at the end and you showed me how to thread the silk beads?!) and will put it in pride of place in my cabinet of goodies to look at and inspire me!

Hope it went well and I'm glad I found your blog! I'm discovering a whole new world!
