For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Stitching goddess??? Me???

Yes, it's true, apparently I am a stitching goddess and who am I to argue. Have a look at this article about me here, I happened upon it completely by accident, lucky me! and Meri, thankyou so much for bigging me up. I did wonder earlier if I would be considered any kind of goddess if I was seen surrounded by all my ironing, dirty bed linen, hoover etc etc as the big clean/wash/iron got underway for my holiday. Yes, I am being good, early preparation means more time for last minute embroidery. I have finished the first part of my bedroom piece, little beads added. You know I am not sure I like it. Well I don't dislike it but I am not sure if it's ''me''. I usually prefer more subtle things and because of this maddening indecision I haven't made any progress with the next part of the piece. It really is frustrating but I just don't know where to go from here so I have left it, I am thinking about it, I am constantly looking at it hoping something will spark a fantastic revelation.
Embroidery is still happening though, something easy to pick up and put down and I will most likely post about that before I go away. This is my 298th post, that means there will be a 300th post giveaway when I get back, something else to think about.......................
Remember the commission I completed recently, again by chance I came across this, looks like she was happy with her gift.
So that just about sums up my week so far, domestic goddess type stuff (sorry, couldn't resist!!) and embroidery. Hope you're having a good one.

I do think that if you put the piece away for awhile, you may find you love it and will complete it to your satisfaction. I did see the post about you - I guess I should have emailed you about it. Anyway, have fun on the vacation.

Any woman who irons well IS a goddess.

Your work show that you iron beyond well, so don't be trying to skip out on the goddess title too soon. Some were just born to it.

Have a wonderful vacation.
