Now for something completely different!! This is the beginning of a commissioned piece I have been asked to do, remember I mentioned it last week? Well this is the first part, I still have patchwork to add but I am pleased with the way it is coming along.
Inspired by this piece I have made other things.........you guessed it.....buttons!! How many pictures can you take of four buttons???? 37 to be precise! I have spared you some of them but have so many here you may get button overload, I just couldn't decide which to leave out. And yes......you guessed again....they are now in the shop.
I also managed to sneak in some of these for Ingrid, a special request as she didn't win the give away.
It has taken me so long to write this post, my p.c. is very sick, crashes at will, takes an age to upload images, it's a bit of a worry actually so keep your fingers crossed for me that it recovers enough to last until I can afford a new one. Tonight I am going to start another doll, number 4, I am so excited!!! Take care x

The dolls are particularly fine, but honestly, each and every work you do is like looking at that photo with the 5 little rose french kots, and the grey leaves. Precise, delicate and elegant. Quite breathtaking. A long time ago someone told me its as important to feed the soul as it is to feed the body and it is really nice you are keeping that in focus.

Dear Karen, It's almost eerie sometimes when I read your blog. YOu echo so many of my own thoughts. I have wrestled with these same thoughts over and over. I can't just do simple. I so feel that I am doing a bad job, that the piece is unfiunushed, that people will think its shoddy work...and on and on. I sympathize with how you feel and think that you have dealt with the question in a very sensible manner. I love your big pieces and you should not be discouraged from doing them. The small items are the perfect solution. Still you in every way but helpful in filling out your shop and making things available for anyone who wishes to own a piecec of your work.

I know what you mean about not doing things simply - I am like that, too. I've realized that if it doesn't make me happy then it's not likely to make anyone else happy. It's just not the same to create things to try to please someone else. Where's the heart in that?
I can never get enough of the photos (37 of the buttons, fine by me)... and that beautiful commissioned piece.
