For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

A little glimpse

I feel a bit of a fraud tonight, getting you here under false pretences. I am showing you a lot but not very much at all if you get my drift. This is a tiny amount of all the work I have been doing for my shop update. I am nearly there and hope to list everything on saturday, my internet day. Sorting out and preparing for builders can wait until sunday, I have a real need for a totally self orientated day, me, my blog, the internet, no cooking, (take away imminent). I have also had a bit of a revelation, something came to me that seems like a fantastic idea, wether it will turn out that way remains to be seen but I am on it and hope to have more for you next week. The book has been sadly neglected recently, I hope to put that right in the holidays, 10 days and counting.

On a totally different note.....when I was a little girl my grandad would go fishing. He would catch the most amazing plaice that my nanna would fry, crispy skin, melt in the mouth flesh. Tonight I had plaice for my meal which I fried to recreate that memory, it was delicious and I felt like I was 5 again. Now my house stinks of fish..........HELP!!
See you on saturday! Be well.

You can burn a little bit of sugar with water to gain the fried fish smell - it turns caramel smell much better :)

Very intriguing glimpses!
The other week I did myself hot blackcurrant and I was back as a little girl staying with my grandmother-amazing what memories tastes bring back

Such little gem-like glimpses-both of the silk and your childhood.

Set out cups of vinegar and the smell will soon be gone.
