For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Paper work

More designs on paper! I am quite excited about this one. Hopefully this is the awakening moment and everything else will flow seamlessly ( I'm not even sure if that's a word, ...it is now. and if it is...is it spelt right??) Actually, it's amazing that I even got this finished, I have had a hectic week to say the least but ever the embroidery addict I have two more on the go that I hope to be able to show you soon. Now the problem, I have an idea, evolved from this work on paper, that I would love to take through to stitch,

I am incredibly impatient to start it but...I need to finish this, my crazy patchwork cloth. The submission date for entry to the exhibition I would like to put it in is looming, do I have time??

This weekend my daughter is coming to visit, I can't wait, and I have a VERY important football match to go to, (come on you blues!!) so quite how much will get done I don't know. Daughters come first , football a close second.
Have a great weekend!x

The crazy patchwork has come on really well. It's a real delight to see that much of it together after enjoying seeing the individual parts. Have a great time with your daughter

Well your paper is pretty, but I am adoring the patchwork quilt, so I say make the time to finish! I know, this is much easier said than done, but I think the quilt holds a great deal of potential. I am glad I stumbled onto your blog, I love your detailed work!

The new paper work looks exciting but please try to meet the deadline for the exhibition. The public should see your new piece!
