For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Sunday posting = forward planning

Yes, Hello! I know it's sunday, I don't normally post on a sunday but there is method here. I figure that when I start work posting will happen as and when, habits need to be broken and now is as good a time as any to start. Also, I could have left this until the morning, but then I would have followed the pattern of posting on wednesday after monday and well, I can't post on wednesday this week, I won't be here. Are you getting my drift? There is also another important reason for doing this now, I will have something new to show you by tuesday....oh I hope that's not all confusing. I'm sure, if, like me, you read it about four times it will make sense, promise!
I have pinned more pieces to the main body of the crazy patchwork this weekend, these just need to be stitched down. At the moment the main piece measures around 40 inches long by 16 inches wide. I am going to keep the length as it is but take the width to about 30 inches. That means I have more text, applique, cutwork and pin tuck panels to make. Then I am going to make another narrow panel, in a totally different technique to attach to the crazy patchwork.

On top of that, I have been in the cupboards again! This reclaimed cloth still has the original embroidery but the lace edge was badly damaged on one side. I have repaired this with 3/4 inch patchwork squares, embroidered to match the surface stitching already there. I don't know how I missed this the other day but here it is and it is in the shop now.

I am so excited about my latest project, (remember tuesday?having something new to show you) but the crazy patchwork will definitely continue and I will keep you posted on that.

I like very much the small running stitches that look like tucks too. You always can amaze me with new ideas.
So we also love Sweden! I'd like to have a brother there too. But now I have Annica, who is the most lovely lady.
My daughter has passed her exam and is going to Wales (Bangor) in September. I'm so happy! I will visit her some day and perhaps we can meet! This is so thrilling!
