For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Hi everyone! Well I survived my first day in the rat race! Thanks so much for all your good wishes, it seems I have a mega support network. I might even ask if them if you can all come with me next week, now that would be fun!! The first day was good, very easy and smooth, it would be great to think they were all going to be like that, we can hope. The most important thing is that when I think about going on monday I am excited, not down, so it must be good. My weekends are going to be so precious from here on in, so much to do in two short days. This morning I took these two pieces of work to the gallery where they will be exhibited in two weeks. I will give you all the links after the preview because I hope to have some images of the show once it is set up.

In between everything else I have managed to finish the back panel of my next handbag. It's basically the same scraps and techniques as the front with a little extra in the form of a stitched word. If I can get this finished before monday I will feel like I have really accomplished something, so keep your fingers crossed.

This image here desrves a massive WOW!! Millions of thanks to ETSY for featuring 'Wrapping Cloth Eight' in their daily 'etsy finds' feature on thursday last. It certainly generated lots of traffic to the shop.
Special thanks to Anda who chose this selection!
