For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Wilting!!

I am not a very happy blogger today. The heat is really geting to me, it's like a furnace around here. Now come on, if we wanted to be this hot we could all go to Benidorm! I don't know about global warming, Lancashire seems to be doing fine all on it's own. No sleep, sweaty hands, too many flies, the list goes on and on and on, feel free to add to it if you want.
Thought I would show you how my house looks when I am left home alone, (and this is the tidiest bit). I spread, believe me, everywhere. Most of my sunday was spent tidying up again before the weekenders returned.

I have managed to embroider another applique piece for the cloth and am making progress with another text piece. I really want to have these finished by tomorrow night because I still have another cutwork piece to do.

When I switched on my pc on sunday morning my shop stats had gone haywire. I figured I must have made the front page again and missed it and with no way of finding out was slightly frustrated. No need to worry, you cyber folk are an amazing lot. Totally out of the blue I was contacted by the brilliant pink water fairy, a stranger up until now, who informed me that one of my brooches had infact been on the front page at 3.30 a.m and she had amazingly taken the screen shot for me. So buckets of thanks to her and to the lovely syko for including me in her treasury. There it is, top left.
Stay cool!!

Now that's "cool" - being on the etsy front page! It does feel to sticky to embroider though.

Whoa..... its been so cold here the last few days... icy cold winds (must be snowing somewhere nearby) and cold, cold rain. So, it seems a bit wierd hearing its so hot!!!!

Enjoy your WIP and I'm a bit like you, spread myself all around the house and then have to have a big tidy up !

I doubt if Benidorm is hotter than ther!
Here in Portugal July and August used to be the hottest months of the year and last weekend it rained "cats and dogs" at times and after the weather became soft and it smelt of wet ground (or land?). It was a mild weather weekend, here in South!
Everything ok with your shop now? I hope so!

Glad it wasn't just me that thought it was getting too hot. I love being able to spread, ok as long as no one wants to sit down, lol

I wish it was only swetty hands ...Luckily it is also windy and the laundry dries quickly and becomes soft in the wind. Congratulations on Etsy front page, again!

Hey Karen, these look lovely even if they take over the house. Its only right that it does isn't it. (I have to stick to my study. I keep losing things)

I love the post showing the lace insertions through the cutwork. Quite breathtaking.
