For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

More from London and a peek at productivity from the madhouse!!

As promised, delightful work from New Designers. These charming, exciting, stitched ceramics are the work of Faye Power. I really hope you like these, personally I think they are amazing and I am sure Faye is going to gain a name for herself in the design world. Remember....you heard it here first!!

Now back to the madhouse....there is so much going on here I don't know where to start. I had such good intentions for yesterday and today. I don't know what happens to the time, I look around and haven't achieved half of what I intended. I always had myself down as highly organised, unflapable, cool, calm and collected......how wrong can you be, deluded again.
I have managed to package this and send it off to a customer, (give yourself a pat on the back Karen)

The hook and eye cloth is now joined with machine stitch as opposed to merely being tacked. No pat on the back here though, I don't have any silk to back it with, must add 'go shopping for silk' to the list of things to do.

and I have started some more silk beads. Definitely a pat on the back here. I am having nightmares that come christmas and my stand at the fair I will only have about six things for sale, earning the accolade of the most pathetic stand in history.

So... hopefully... by next time, there will be lots and lots of new things to show you and I have so much more of London to share, I have a feeling we could still be reminiscing in October!

I think you deserve giant pats on the back for everything! Your productivity blows me away! I always feel like I am just plodding along at a snails pace.

Love the stitched ceramics! Looking forward to seeing more design inspiration from London!

Just came across your blog. What lovely things you have! I am using old embroidery pieces on a new man's work shirt to make it into a new WOman's work shirt. Some of the embroidery is from a vintage tablecloth; will post about it this week when it is finished. You've inspired me! nancy

Is Faye's stuff made out of fabric? It looks like fabric - how very cool! I'm so glad you have a bit of a holiday in London -how fun! I can see you've been super busy with your work - and it's as beautiful as ever...now I'm feeling like such a slacker - I must get off of here and get into my workroom and do something! Thanks for the "kick in the pants!" xo, Nan

Thanks for the look at the work of Faye Power. Are they just stitched, or ceramics with stitching(which I can't quite work out)?
