For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

I got a quote for professional photographs last week, I won't tell you what it was and I do actually think it's quite reasonable, I'm all for paying people the going rate for their skill, but, I am afraid I can't justify laying that out at the moment. I do think though that I will definitely pay for a good portfolio of images sometime in the near future, I think it would be a valuable marketing tool. Because of this and with the deadline fast approaching, I have been taking photos all day, trying to get three good images (the max I am allowed) of the two pieces I want to submit to the upcoming textile open. I have put in this image of the full hook and eye cloth here to give you some idea of how it looks. It's not the best image, I won't be including it in my submission, but some of you mentioned how you would like to see the whole thing, so here it is. I am however really pleased with one of my detailed shots, folds, pleats and edge that you can see underneath.

My latest piece is not coming on very fast, I have had a lot of family stuff to do and I won't be here tomorrow so I have kind of rushed this bit in order to keep you interested and give you an idea of what's going on.
I am doing crazy patchwork. This is the beginning of a long journey, I still need to embroider a large text panel and definitely need to do more applique. I haven't decided on the form of the surface embroidery for the seams yet, that will most likely evolve as I go along. I do like the way it's looking at the moment though.

I love seeing the whole hook and eye cloth so casually hang by a hook. Lovely, as is the detailed photo.
