For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

I'm Back!

Yes, I know it's only been three days but it seems like years. There is so much going on here that I am going to meet myself coming back! GOOD NEWS, yesterday I had a job interview and I got it!! I start in august, monday to friday at a local high school. It will be such a massive change for me and take some adjustments to things but I am really excited!! Part of my interview was to improvise a short lesson with thirty 12 year olds, I had a ball, it was so much fun. So, now I have to work my butt off all summer making for the exhibitions I have coming up, if anyone out there has energy to spare can they please forward some on, thankyou!!
On the creative front, I have been playing with paper again. I am really pleased with this it is so delicate, almost ethereal.

Some of this paper has been transplanted onto these little brooches. So far I have managed to make just three brooches in my huge exhibition 'make off'. I think I need to get a move on...and did I mention I was going to London for a few days next week.

There is also a LOT of this still going on too, for my own personal project.

Re my hook and eye cloth...I have such an exciting idea for the edge but I think it will have to wait until after London. You will definitely be the first to see it though!

Those kids are a lucky bunch to have you!
The paper pieces are lovely, (What kind is it? It looks like sheer fabric to me!)
Enjoy your time in London!
