For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Mini Update.

Regular readers of this little ranting forum of mine will know that I suffer from large amounts of creative angst! Don't get me wrong, I like everything I make for the shop, but occasionally I wonder as to the value of it as I don't feel it really says anything about who or what I am. For that reason I have decided to add other things, the first of which I have put in today. When I am making a new cloth I usually go through a long sampling stage, trying out techniques, stitches, seeing which process goes with which embroidery stitch etc etc. I have all these samples mounted in my portfolio, hidden away basically, so I am going to see how they are received on etsy. These small pieces of fabric manipulation and embroidery illustrate more effectively the kind of work I feel says more about me as a crative person.





I have only put two in the shop today, other events have overtaken me somewhat, but I have many more to go in later this week. Check them out here, and I will let you know when I have updated again.

i really like how the second photo has been cropped as to me it looks like a little floating cloud that is trying to find its way amongst all the big fat rain drops. dx.

What a damn good idea, you have loads of work that would be excellent to put in your shop and it would be far better on display, just remember to photograph them for your own records. nice to see you have been doing something more enjoyable than an essay.

Lovely pieces and yes, make lots of photos to keep a part of them for you! This is in its own scale like sending your own kids to the big world!
