For centuries women have used cloth as a tool of comfort and as an expression of beauty within their homes. Creating cloth for warmth, cloth for shelter, our female predecessors embellished these linens with hand stitch using laborious and time consuming techniques thereby enhancing the functional beauty of objects which enveloped and protected their families. Inspired by these women I hope my creations pay tribute to and recognise the devotion expressed in cloth by our female ancestors .

Thankyou Kaija

I received this lovely award yesterday from my good blogging friend Kaija

If you read my post yesterday you will know that it came at a time when I needed cheering up, so lots of thanks have been sent to her. I have received it once before, from Gunnel. I am sorry to say that I didn't pass it on then as I didn't feel I knew my fellow bloggers well enough so this time I am determined to hand out this award, as I should. I would really like to give it back to Kaija as she does make my day, but that would probably give her a headache about what to do with it. Instead I am going to give it to,
Gunnel, I know you have had one before but I can't help it if your work is so beautiful!
Ellia, over at green bean baby for her constant encouragement and support.
Camilla, again for her encouragement and support.
Jill, a very new blogger who needs encouragement to post more often.....and to add sitemeter!!
Needles, for the wonderful compliments she leaves about my work, so encouraging.

Nan, who is so excited about becoming a grandma and who is performing above and beyond the call of duty in childminding for her sister.
And last but definitely not least, Ulla, who is always positive and complimentary about my work, and who is a new blogger that I feel is going to be a good cyber friend!

And yes, I can count, I know that is seven and it's only supposed to be five, but they all deserve it.

thanks for the award, now I will have to do something with my blog, probably a very long and boring one about the trials and tribulations of fitting a new kitchen. I bet you can't wait.

Thank you for the award, Karen. There is one for you coming in my blog, as well. Now you can send it to more people, but I'll accept less than five because you already gave seven today!

Blushing. What a sweet thing to say, and if I may say a lovely bunch of people to be included with.

You know I calls em as I see em. There are very ardent groups here doing a high quality of work, but most people here pursue it only with love. I've very little real skill, and tend not to be fussy enough. My chief quality as a needleperson is that I love it all, and know great stuff when I see it.

I've never received a blogging award before...come to think of it, I don't think I've received any kind of award! And I should be the one giving all of you an award for your inspiring and motivating blogs - I'm in good company to be sure! Thanks Karen -you would be at the top of my list for people for ME to pass this one to!! Nan (www.potsandpins.com)
